International Women's Day 8th March 2022

Tuesday, 8 March is International Women's Day 2022

IWD 2022 campaign theme: #BreakTheBias

Imagine a gender equal world.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women's equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day,

every day.

We can break the bias in our communities.

We can break the bias in our workplaces.

We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities.

Together, we can all break the bias - on International Women's Day (IWD) and beyond.

Did you know that, rather poignantly, we use March 8 because that was the day Russian women gained the vote in 1911?

COP26 highlighted that women bear the brunt of climate change and have published "5 reasons Climate Changes Needs Women." The UN recognises that women are "effective and powerful leaders and change-makers" in the fight to protect the planet. Let’s celebrate the contribution of women and girls who are leading the charge on climate change to build a better future.

Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow!

To get involved all you have to do is attend an event, share articles or your #BreakTheBias photo pose. Checkout webinars and influencers, and take part on social media.

Locally, Peterborough Museum has an International Women's Day Fair at 10:00am on March 5th.
